obama's thursday acceptance speech will be held outdoors scheduled for the 74,000-seat bank of america stadium. now organizers are saying right now the outdoor speech is going to go on rain or shine unless there's dangerous lightning or any other kind of severe weather in the area. now the forecast is calling for thunderstorms right now. president obama continued campaign appearances in colorado and ohio on his road to charlotte tour. meanwhile gop vice presidential candidate was on the road as well in a preconvention appearance in north carolina while in three doe, the president gave a preview of some of the themes democrats will be using in the coming week to counter the romney campaign. >> you can choose which path to take. you could choose their plan. don't boo. you can choose to give tax cuts to techs who have already made

from ronald reagan. are you better off than four years ago. over the weekend governor malley was on face the nation, was asked by bob shaffer is the country better off than it was four years ago. malley's answer was no. the fallout there was for the democrats to regroup and try to get on the same page which they appeared to try to do this morning. stephanie cutter, the chief spokesperson for the campaign emphatically said yes. vice president biden went on today very emotionally dove into that question. martin malley may have gotten flak yesterday for not coming up with a quick yes answer; but he may have inadvertently done the democrats a favor by getting them all in the same direction. severe weather slammed parts of d.c. last night. heavy rains quickly flooded the bloomingdale section of northwest, which is becoming a regular thing around here. could be in for some more heavy rain tonight. get to gary mcgrady in the weather center. >> do have the possibility, but few and far between with the

showers and thunderstorms this evening. let's certainly hope that if we do get something it won't be right here in the city. let's hope that doesn't happen at all for the rest of the week. we do have a little bit of limited thunderstorms, shower activity out there tonight. here's radar. want to show you where it is. just one lingering storm, northern sections of baltimore county, and another storm is developing right in town there for baltimore. now have been watching this very, very closely, because flash-flood warning has been in effect for baltimore county and the city of baltimore until 7:45 p.m. they got a lot of heavy rain up there earlier this evening, and it looks like they could get a little bit more with the showers and thunderstorms being very, very persistent right there over baltimore and baltimore county. word on the full forecast coming up. >> want to get back to that part of the story. mentioned trouble in a neighborhood where homeowners are sick of flooding triggered by heavy rains like last night. happened several times so far

this year. . >> people spent the better part of this day cleaning up after last night's pounding rainstorm. that includes city workers who have been at it all day and people who owners homes and businesses here. not a day of rest. the home videos posted on youtube tell the story of what's been happening during the severe thunderstorms in the blooming dale section of northwest washington. that's raw sewage bursting from a manhole that lost its cover flooding the area around rhode island and first street with polluted water. >> got to be something done in blooming dale. pretty tough to live. dan casper's basement has been trashed again, the fourth time this summer after this new round of cleaning and disinfecting he'll eventually replace the drywall. >> so much water in the area that it's hard to looking all

days. >> right now -- they can get out to be able to get their food or fresh water or even to see anybody else. >> president obama made a stop in the region today, met with local officials and saw some of the damage firsthand. >> hurricane isaac being blamed for the high gas prices. nationwide the price for gallon of regular, 3.82. 0.77 in maryland, 3.69 in virginia. as josh casio tells us, drivers hope the price increase is just temporary. >> seems like it keeps climbing, always going up. >> reporter: aaa said drivers this labor day are going to face the most expensive prices ever seen this time of year. you can thank hurricane isaac for some of that as it forced some gulf coast refineries to shut down. nationally gas prices are above 3.80. nearly 20 cents more than this time last year. >> putting gas in every other day. >> reporter: officials expect

doppler radar. want to see just a short-term in northern parts of baltimore, and northern parts of baltimore county. this is has really calmed down. it is dark green, because right now baltimore county and baltimore city under a flash- flood warning until 7:45. it's gotten a lot of heavy rain up there. sentinel radar will show the bigger picture. want to see at least here in the city and surrounding counties there's nothing going on. really just up to baltimore county and north and northeast of that. the only game in town. you can see the way it's been the last couple of hours. a big line of thunderstorms move through. that's what prompted the flash- flood warning. that has since moved up to the north and to the east. thank goodness calmed down just a little bit. but right now again what i was showing you on the live doppler radar, just a couple showers, perhaps some thunderstorms still lingering in baltimore city and in northern and northwestern sections of the county there. this, again, flash-flood

warning will go until 7:45 p.m. they were not specific when they issued the warning how much rain they thought they would have in certain spots; but looking at doppler estimates, anywhere between 2 to 4 inches of rain fell up there late this afternoon. today's high reagan international, 85, bwi marshall, 84 degrees. going to be right back up there again tomorrow as well. now have cooled off to 83 degrees, 81 for manassas, dulles at 82, these dew points are running real high, up over 70 degrees. that is just muggy. don't see any change in that for the next few days. thunderstorms moving to the northeast. fairly dry right now. more thunderstorms back out to the southwest. there's a chance could end up with some showers and some thunderstorms moving through later on this evening and overnight tonight; but will be spotty. how much rain can we expect? anywhere between 1 to 2, and that will carry through the

the orioles shut out the jays 4- 0. the yankees lost to the rays 4-3. . >> they hit the field for a conditioning session. >> and brandon banks back in 16 after battling the bubble all preseason. in the red skins final game on wednesday he impressed with a 47-yard catch, a 43-yard run, not to mention he averaged 13.2 yards per punt return. he also showed he is the play maker with a 91-yard change-up on a punt return earlier in the preseason. entering this year banks seems as confident as ever. >> feel like i'm a play maker. want the ball. as many times as i can get the ball. when i can get it, can make plays.
